Mülheim:Viktor Axelsen secured his place in the 2025 German Open quarterfinals after a straight-game victory over Indonesia’s rising talent Alwi Farhan on Thursday.

🔹 First Set: Axelsen took control after a tight start, winning 21-13.
🔹 Second Set: Farhan fought back but couldn’t stop Axelsen, who closed it out 21-18.

The 19-year-old Alwi Farhan, currently ranked No. 40 in the world, put up a strong fight, but Axelsen, the World No. 4, proved too strong.

Axelsen’s Next Opponent
Axelsen was expected to face fellow Dane Rasmus Gemke in the quarterfinals, but Gemke fell short in his second-round match against Hong Kong’s Jason Gunawan. Despite being the favorite, Gemke (World No. 29) lost 11-21, 21-15, 13-21 to World No. 42 Gunawan.

Other Danish and Malaysian Results at German Open
✅ Danish Women’s Singles: Mia Blichfeldt advanced to the quarterfinals with a commanding two-game win, but Amalie Schulz and Line Christophersen were eliminated.

❌ Malaysian Men’s Singles:

Justin Hoh lost a tough battle to Singapore’s Jason Teh Jia Heng 21-18, 19-21, 12-21.
Cheam June Wei fell to Loh Kean Yew, 21-19, 13-21, 12-21.
✅ Malaysian Men’s Doubles:

Junaidi Arif/Yap Roy King put on a strong performance, defeating Chang Ko-Chi/Po Li-Wei (Taiwan) 21-17, 22-20. They now face a tough challenge against Korean duo Kim Won Ho/Seo Seung Jae.
✅ Malaysian Women’s Doubles:

Go Pei Kee/Teoh Mei Xing pulled off a major upset against China’s Chen Qing Chen/Wang Ting Ge, winning 22-20, 21-12. They will now battle Japan’s Mizuki Otake/Miyu Takahashi for a semifinal spot.
