PETALING JAYA: Women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah’s future with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) still remains to be seen as they are yet to sign a new contract with the governing body.
BAM secretary-general Datuk Kenny Goh said the discussion regarding the contracts is still ongoing between the association and the shuttlers.
“They (Pearly-Thinaah) are still BAM players and I don’t know otherwise.
“We are still in discussion over their contract,” he said.
Doubts over the world No. 5 pair leaving the national setup and going independent started looming after sources claimed Pearly-Thinaah were in talks with sponsors outside of BAM.
Since being paired together in 2019, Pearly-Thinaah have gone on to win three World Tour titles (2024 Hong Kong Open, 2022 French Open, 2021 Swiss Open).
They were also the first Malaysian women’s doubles pair to reach an Olympics semi-final in Paris last year.
