PETALING JAYA: Men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik continued their strong run in the Asian Championships when they advanced to the quarter-finals with ease.
In their second round match at the Ningbo Olympic Sport Center on Thursday (10 April), the sixth seeds dispatched off India’s Hariharan Amsakarunan-Ruban Rethinasabapathi 21-15, 21-14 in just 37 minutes.
They will face Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian-Rian Ardianto in a quarter-final match that is expected to go down the wire on Friday.
However, teammates Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun’s hopes of following in their seniors’ footsteps were dashed as they were eliminated 12-21, 21-16, 18-21 by Taiwan’s Liu Kuang-heng-Yang Po-han in the second round.
