Singapore: Malaysia’s top men’s doubles pair, Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, continued their impressive 2025 season by booking a spot in the Singapore Open final after a hard-fought semifinal win over India’s world-renowned duo, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty.

In a dramatic 64-minute match at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, the world No. 3 pair bounced back from a narrow first-game loss to claim victory: 19-21, 21-10, 21-18.

Watch the full highlights:

Despite leading 20-13 in the third game, Aaron and Wooi Yik had to weather a late comeback from the Indian pair, who clawed back five consecutive points before the Malaysians sealed the deal.

This win marks the duo’s fourth consecutive final appearance in 2025, following podium runs at the Badminton Asia Championships, Thailand Open, and Malaysia Masters. With titles already secured in Asia and Thailand, they’re now one match away from capturing their third title of the year.

Their next challenge comes from South Korea’s formidable pair, Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae, who defeated Denmark’s world No. 2 team, Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, 21-17, 21-16 in the other semifinal.

Tomorrow’s final also offers a chance for redemption—Aaron and Wooi Yik previously lost to the Korean duo in the India Open semifinals earlier this year.
