Facing world No. 33 for the first time, the world No. 3 Malaysian duo showed no signs of trouble, wrapping up the match in just 25 minutes.
After an early 3-3 tie in the opening game, Goh/Lai went on a 4-0 run, quickly extending their lead and taking the first game 21-9. The second game was no different, with Goh/Lai dominating from start to finish, closing out the match 21-10.
In the quarterfinals, Goh/Lai will face China’s Jiang Zhenbang / Huang Dongping, who defeated Taiwan’s Lu Ming Che / Hung En-Tzu 21-13, 21-17.

Malaysia’s No. 2 seeds Goh Sze Fei / Nur Izzuddin crashed out after losing to South Korea’s Kim Won Ho / Seo Seung Jae in straight games.

Goh Sze Fei / Nur Izzuddin had previously defeated the Koreans in the 2025 India Open final, but this time, Kim/Seo turned the tables to level their head-to-head record at 1-1.
The Malaysians started strong, racing to a 4-1 lead, but at 10-4, the Koreans responded with a 7-0 run, taking an 11-10 advantage at the interval. Despite Goh Sze Fei / Nur Izzuddin staying within two points at 14-16, Kim/Seo surged ahead, closing the first game 21-16.
The second game followed a similar pattern, with Goh Sze Fei / Nur Izzuddin leading 4-2, before the Koreans reeled off four consecutive points and never looked back. At 14-12, Kim/Seo pulled away, winning 21-13.
Kim/Seo will next face China’s Xie Haonan / Zeng Weihan, who advanced after India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy / Chirag Shetty retired at 21-16, 2-2 due to an injury.
