Coney and Van Leeuwen withdrawn from women’s doubles draw – Badminton-News.com

Badminton England regretfully have to announce that Chloe Coney has withdrawn from this year’s YONEX All England Open Badminton Championships.

The 29-year-old was due to partner Estelle van Leeuwen in the Women’s Doubles at this year’s prestigious Super 1000 event at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham and, earlier this week, the pair were drawn against Danish duo Amalie Cecilie Kudsk and Signe Schulz in the opening round.

However, following an extended period of time out of training, Coney has not been able to sufficiently recover her match fitness levels to compete at this year’s showpiece event.

We will continue to support Chloe in her swift return to court and competitive action. Badminton England officially withdrew the women’s doubles pair from the tournament this afternoon.

Estelle will still compete at this year’s YONEX All England as one half of her burgeoning mixed doubles partnership with Callum Hemming. The pair have been drawn to face fourth seeds Yang Po Hsuan and Hu Ling Fang from Chinese Taipei in the Round of 32 stage.
