Odense, Denmark — Malaysia’s mixed doubles world champions Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei continued their impressive run at the 2025 Denmark Open, winning an all-Malaysian quarter-final clash against Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Jemie Lai to secure a place in the semi-finals.
The No. 4 seeds needed just 38 minutes to complete a 21–17, 21–11 victory over their experienced compatriots at the Jyske Bank Arena, marking their fourth consecutive win over Goh and Lai since last year’s Korea Open.

The opening game saw Chen and Toh seize control after a mid-game push, turning an 11–10 lead into a 21–17 win. In the second, they trailed briefly 3–1 before unleashing a powerful 9–0 scoring burst, leaving no room for a comeback as they cruised to a decisive 21–11 finish.
This marks the pair’s fifth head-to-head victory in eight encounters against Goh and Lai. The win also confirms Chen and Toh’s spot in their third World Tour semi-final of the year following strong performances at the Singapore and Arctic Opens.
They will next face China’s top seeds Jiang Zhen Bang and Wei Ya Xin, who edged Denmark’s Mathias Christiansen/Alexandra Bøje in a hard-fought 21–16, 21–23, 21–19 battle.
Men’s Doubles:
Malaysia’s last standing men’s doubles pair, Nur Mohd Azriyn Ayub/Tan Wee Kiong, fell short in their quarter-final clash, losing 19–21, 18–21 to China’s No. 5 seeds Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang.
Despite an encouraging start, Azriyn and Tan were unable to maintain their momentum as Liang and Wang mounted timely comebacks in both games. The defeat means the world No. 24 pair once again exited at the quarter-final stage, repeating their results from the Japan and Macau Opens.
Liang and Wang will face Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, who overwhelmed England’s Ben Lane/Sean Vendy 21–8, 21–15.

Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie advanced to the semi-finals after outlasting China’s Li Shi Feng 21–18, 21–23, 21–17 in an 89-minute thriller. He will meet France’s Alex Lanier, who comfortably dispatched India’s Lakshya Sen 21–9, 21–14.
Meanwhile, China’s Shi Yu Qi defeated France’s Christo Popov 21–19, 19–21, 21–19 to set up a much-anticipated semi-final showdown with home favorite Viktor Axelsen, who rallied past Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn 13–21, 21–12, 21–18. It will be their ninth career meeting, with Axelsen leading the head-to-head 8–1.
Women’s Singles:
The semi-finals will feature An Se Young (Korea) against Akane Yamaguchi (Japan), and Han Yue (China) versus Wang Zhi Yi (China) in two blockbuster showdowns.
Women’s Doubles:
The semi-final lineup is set with Japan’s Yuki Fukushima/Mayu Matsumoto (7) facing Korea’s Baek Ha Na/Lee So Hee (6), while Korea’s Kim Hye Jeong/Kong Hee Yong (3) will meet China’s Chen Qing Chen/Jia Yi Fan (5).
