KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysia’s newly crowned mixed doubles world champions, Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei, are reaping the rewards of their historic triumph in Paris—guaranteeing an automatic place at the 2025 BWF World Tour Finals and a potential payout of RM888,323.
Following their straight-game win over China’s Jiang Zhen Bang and Wei Ya Xin (21-15, 21-14), the Malaysian pair has now locked in a golden opportunity to battle the top eight pairs of the season at the prestigious year-end finale, scheduled for December 17–21 in Hangzhou, China.
Under BWF’s official rules, World Champions automatically qualify for the Tour Finals regardless of their current standing in the “Race to Finals” rankings. While Chen-Toh already sit comfortably in third place with 59,610 points, this win removes all pressure to chase further points and allows them to focus fully on preparing for Hangzhou.
Should they fall outside the top eight by the season’s end, their world champion status guarantees them entry, replacing the lowest-ranked qualifier if necessary.

Their Paris victory contributed an additional 14,500 ranking points, lifting Chen-Toh back to World No. 3 with a total of 88,533 points. They overtook Thailand’s Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran, who dropped to fourth.

Their World Championship title win couldn’t have come at a better time, coinciding with Malaysia’s 68th National Day celebrations. It marks only the second time Malaysia has won a World Championship title, following the 2022 success of Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik in men’s doubles.
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah, who finished runners-up in Paris, maintain their World No. 2 ranking with 91,416 points—still trailing the dominant Chinese pair Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning (113,634 points).
