The Malaysian pair will next face their toughest challenge yet — a quarterfinal matchup against World No. 1 Koreans Kim Won Ho/Seo Seung Jae.
🥉 Aaron/Wooi Yik Survive Scare in All-Malaysian Battle
Meanwhile, the 2022 World Champions and current World No. 2, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik, were tested by fellow Malaysians Wan Arif Wan Junaidi/Yap Roy King in a dramatic three-game encounter.
After losing the first set 18-21, Aaron/Wooi Yik staged a remarkable comeback to win the second set 21-18 and held their nerve in a nail-biting decider, clinching it 26-24. Their experience and mental fortitude proved crucial.
Up next, the Olympic bronze medalists will face India’s top pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty, who recently defeated China’s Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang.

Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei, ranked World No. 4, displayed incredible determination as they came from a set down to defeat Indonesia’s Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Pasaribu 14-21, 21-19, 21-17 in a tense 68-minute battle.
They will face India’s Dhruv Kapila/Tanisha Crasto in the quarterfinals.
In another thrilling all-Malaysian mixed doubles clash, Hoo Pang Ron/Cheng Su Yin upset their seniors Goh Soon Huat/Shevon Lai Jemie after a gritty three-set battle: 15-21, 21-19, 21-17.
Their quarterfinal opponents will be China’s rising pair Jiang Zhen Bang/Wei Ya Xin.
Malaysian women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan also advanced to the next round after defeating Indonesia’s Lanny Tria Mayasari/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti 21-12, 21-11. They are set to meet Gabriela and Stefani Stoeva of Bulgaria on Friday.
