Changzhou, China — Malaysia’s top-ranked men’s doubles team Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik returned to form with a commanding performance in their opening match at the 2025 China Open, a BWF Super 1000 event. The world No. 2 duo defeated Denmark’s Rasmus Kjaer and Frederick Sogaard 21-19, 21-15 in 41 minutes at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium.
This victory ended their disappointing streak, where they had suffered first-round exits in both the Indonesia Open and Japan Open following their Singapore Open title win. Notably, the Danish pair had eliminated them at the Indonesia Open, making this a sweet revenge match for the Malaysians.
Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik are now eyeing their fourth title of the season, having already lifted trophies at the Badminton Asia Championships, Thailand Open, and Singapore Open. They were also runners-up at the Malaysia Masters earlier this year.
They will face either France’s Christo and Toma Junior Popov or Canada’s Kevin Lee and Ty Alexander Lindeman in the second round as they continue their quest for glory.
