‘Flung into air’: Badminton coach dies as speeding car hits bike on Dwarka expressway, driver flees

The accused driver fled the scene after the incident. Sandip, the victim’s brother, reported the incident to the police. Police have registered a case and are investigating to identify the vehicle and the driver involved.
GURGAON: A 25-year-old badminton coach died after a speeding car hit his motorcycle on Dwarka Expressway near Daulatabad on Sunday. Police said the accused fled the spot and efforts are on to trace the car.The victim has been identified as Vinod Thakran, a resident of Gadaipur, Pataudi. According to his elder brother Sandip, Thakran was returning home from his academy around 5.30 pm. “When he reached near pillar 104 on Dwarka Expressway on his R15 bike (HR76J3727), a white Maruti Swift suddenly took a turn without turning on indicator. My brother’s bike rammed into the car, then hit a drum on the road. He was thrown a distance from the bike,” Sandip told the police.Onlookers alerted the police control room. The Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) team reached the spot and took Thakran to the Sector 10 civil hospital in a private ambulance, where doctors declared him brought dead.Police said a case has been registered at Rajendra Park police station against an unidentified person under sections 125 (acts endangering life or personal safety through rash or negligent behaviour) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of BNS. Investigation is underway to identify the vehicle and the driver involved in the incident.
