Preview: The first two rounds were played Thursday in boys and girls singles, setting up semifinal and championship matchups Saturday. Boys, girls and mixed doubles all played one round Thursday. The top four seeds stayed alive in boys singles, with No. 1 Pradvun Gowda from Del Norte facing No. 4 Lam To from Hoover and No. 2-seeded Charles Du from Mira Mesa taking on No. 3 seed Jaden Lee from Madison in the semifinals.  … In girls singles, Rancho Bernardo’s Justine Yong, the No. 1 seed, faces Kearny’s Yumi Nguyen, the No. 4 seed. Sixth-seeded Elizabeth Tran from Mira Mesa defeated No. 3 Samantha Gonzalves from Lincoln to earn a trip to the semifinals. … The top eight seeds in both boys and girls doubles moved on to the second round, led by Canyon Hills’ Hunter Tran and Branden Tran on the boys’ side and Patrick Henry’s Abby Taing and Katie Ha for the girls. … In mixed doubles, all eight seeds moved on to the second round, led by top-seeded Meghana Nishant-Mihir Thaha from Del Norte.

At stake: Five qualifiers per event will head to the next week’s SoCal regionals at Arcadia High School.
